Speech and Language Services
Below are the Speech and Language Therapy services that we offer.
Please note that where appropriate, some of these services can be conducted in a physical setting or via video/telephone call.
Assessments
Assessments can be completed if you have concerns about your child’s or pupils:
- Speech clarity
- Memory
- Understanding of spoken language
- Vocabulary/word learning skills
- Ability to verbally express themselves in a detailed and organised manner.
- Fluency (stutter/stammer)
- Reluctance to speak (Selective Mutism)

Therapy
Based on the assessment results, recommendations will be made. This may include referrals to other agencies, strategies and/or therapy. Programmes will be created specifically for the child based on their own strengths and needs.
If therapy is advised, this may be direct or indirect i.e. either provided by the clinician or through school/home. Indirect therapy will be overseen by M-SLA.
School/Workforce Training
Bespoke training packages are created based on the needs of the school staff/employers. Topics may include:
- Identifying Speech, Language and Communication Needs in Secondary Schools.
- How behaviour may be masking underlying communication difficulties.
- How to support learning and recall of subject specific vocabulary.
All trainings include easy to implement support/strategies at a universal, targeted and specialist level.
Specific training on screening and interventions for SLCN can also be provided to staff who are working directly with pupils with SLCN.
Other trainings are available; the above gives a brief overview of what you can expect to access.
